he keeps his head down, gaze firmly on the ground as he tries to stop himself from shaking, from feeling that twinge in his chest when he sees the soulmates

he can’t help but feel the sudden sting behind his eyes, however. slowly, he reaches up to adjust his sunglasses when the sleeve of his jacket falls down slightly

and he catches sight of his own timer; of the numbers that had never changed, the numbers that had always been stuck at zero.
