it would be???? actually a pretty flawed, shallow relationship i think ??? like they both have kind of boisterous personalities and while jack is more blunt, they are both rather charismatic, and a partner who can woo you the way you woo others can be attractive. they say that you romance others the way you want to be romanced yourself, and that’s kind of how i see their attraction beginning. they understand the mindset of the other on a basic level. also there’s the lovely bonus that maurice rather faithfully follows jack without as much of the ulterior motive for personal power that roger has (which opens up an entirely different discussion about why jack and roger are gr8 but that’s for another rant and another day) so either he’s not intelligent enough to think of opposing him or doesn’t have the drive or desire to. jack is genuinely a good leader in maurice’s eyes because his ruling makes maurice able to live and play happily.
but! they’d have vastly different endgames and goals and that could come between them. because maurice is much more people and relationship oriented, he’d want a strong, meaningful relationship with jack but he also wouldn’t want all the pain that comes with it. he would be under the impression that all jack’s issues could be resolved with a little elbow grease and that after that little nuisance was taken care of they would be happy as clams. jack on the other hand has powerful, ambitious drives that would keep him constantly work-oriented and reaching for more, which wouldn’t make sense to maurice. jack would fail to supply the positive attention maurice desires. and he certainly wouldn’t be sorted out as nicely as maurice would like in as quick a time as maurice would like.
in a casual, no strings attached or strictly physical and/or friendly relationship i think they’d be okay, but neither could be happy in a serious, committed arrangement.
so overall, i think it’s super cute as a light ship almost more in brotp territory, but i recognize- as should you before you hop on this ship- that it is fundamentally doomed to fail and not in a fun, angsty, brooding, hot way. i mean just plain bad together. you gettin’ me? ))
