the author mentioned roger was paler than the others
unfortunately, i’ve got evidence to the contrary
in chapter 4: painted faces and long hair, there is this description of roger found on page 87 of this pdf
in essence, roger’s skin is described to be “swarthy.” the definition of swarthy/swarthiness is as follows
“swarthy [swawr-th ee, -thee] adjective, swarthier, swarthiest.
1.(of skin color, complexion, etc.) dark.” (x)
“swarthy: adjective UK /ˈswɔː.ði/ US /ˈswɔːr-/
› (of a person or their skin) dark” (x)
as you can see, roger is not in fact “paler than the others”; he is clearly described as having dark skin. the idea of roger having light skin came from the fandom, not the author.
